Automatically restart Automatic Email Manager after a crash
Modified on Fri, 2 Oct at 3:04 PM
Overview
On unstable Windows systems or in specific configurations, Automatic Email Manager may occasionally crash. You can use Windows Task Scheduler to restart it automatically when this happens.
You need to create one task for the service and, if you want, one for the user interface.
Step 1: Find the crash event
- Press Win + R, type
eventvwr.msc, and press Enter to open Event Viewer. - Go to Windows Logs > Application.
- Find the error event logged when Automatic Email Manager crashed.
Step 2: Create the restart task
- Right-click the event and select Attach Task To This Event....
- Enter a name for the task, for example
Restart AEM service, then click Next until you reach Action. - Select Start a program.
- In Program/script, enter the program to restart:
| What crashed | Program to start |
|---|---|
| The service | C:\Program Files\Namtuk\AEM10\aemServices.exe |
| The user interface | C:\Program Files\Namtuk\AEM10\AutomaticEmailManager.exe |
- Click Finish.
Step 3: Fine-tune the task (optional)
- Open Task Scheduler (press Win + R, type
taskschd.msc, press Enter). - Select Task Scheduler Library, find your task, then right-click it and select Properties.
- Adjust the settings as needed, for example Run whether user is logged on or not or Run with highest privileges.
Tip: If the service is still running but stuck, stop it first. Otherwise Windows may report that it is already running.
Note: If you installed Automatic Email Manager in a custom folder, use that path instead.
