Is Automatic Email Manager compliant with RFC 3834?

Modified on Fri, 2 Oct at 3:30 PM

Short answer

Yes. Automatic Email Manager supports RFC 3834, the standard for automatic email responses. This helps prevent mail loops when you use the Reply to email action.

What is RFC 3834?

RFC 3834 defines an Auto-Submitted header. It tells other mail servers and email software that a message was sent by an automatic process, not by a person.

Why it matters

Two automatic systems can reply to each other endlessly, creating a mail loop that floods mailboxes. When a message carries the Auto-Submitted header, most mail servers and auto-responders know not to answer it.

How to enable or disable it

This option is enabled by default.

  1. Open Options.
  2. Go to Advanced options.
  3. Find To reply email use the RFC Auto-Submitted rule to prevent mail routing loops.
  4. Select or clear the box, then click OK.

Tip: We recommend keeping this option enabled, especially if you reply to emails automatically.
