My anti-virus shows an alert for Automatic Email Manager

Modified on Fri, 2 Oct at 3:39 PM

What's happening

Your anti-virus may flag Automatic Email Manager during installation, or block it when it connects to your mailbox. This is usually a false positive. Some anti-virus programs mistrust software that reads emails and runs in the background, even when it is safe.

What to do

Step 1: Make sure you downloaded it from us

Only install Automatic Email Manager from our official website.

To check the file, right-click the installer, select Properties > Digital Signatures, and confirm that the signer is Namtuk.

Step 2: Add an exception in your anti-virus

  1. Open your anti-virus settings.
  2. Add an exception (or exclusion) for the Automatic Email Manager installation folder, for example C:\Program Files\Namtuk\AEM\.
  3. Restart the installation, or run Test connection again in your account settings.

Step 3: Report the false positive

Contact us and tell us:

  • The name and version of your anti-virus
  • The name of the detected threat
  • A screenshot of the alert, if possible

We will send the file to the anti-virus vendor so they can fix their database. Fixes are usually included in the next anti-virus update.

Tip: If your anti-virus blocks the connection to your mailbox, add an exception for aemServices.exe and AutomaticEmailManager.exe too.
