Microsoft 365 connection stopped working (EWS no longer supported)
Modified on Fri, 2 Oct at 3:48 PM
Symptoms
Your Microsoft 365 (Office 365) account, previously connected with Exchange (EWS), can no longer connect or check emails.
Cause
Microsoft has ended support for EWS connections to Microsoft 365. Automatic Email Manager now connects through Sign in with Microsoft (modern authentication).
Solution
Create a new account that uses the Microsoft sign-in, then remove the old one.
Step 1: Add a new account
- Click Connect your email.
- Enter your email address. Automatic Email Manager detects Microsoft 365 automatically.
- Click Sign in with Microsoft and follow the sign-in prompts.
- Set the Folder to monitor, then complete the remaining steps.
Step 2: Reassign your scenarios
In the new account, select the same scenarios as in your old account. Make sure to reselect the folders if you are using Move Email function, because the folders ID have changed (even if names are the same).
Step 3: Test and delete the old account
- Send a test email and check that your scenarios run as expected.
- Delete the old EWS account.
Important: Keep the old account until the new one works, so you don't miss any emails. If both accounts monitor the same folder, emails may be processed twice, so delete the old account as soon as the test is successful.
Using Windows Server?
Microsoft no longer supports Internet Explorer for sign-in. Install Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome and set it as the default browser before you click Sign in with Microsoft.
