Can Automatic Email Manager process encrypted (S/MIME) emails?

Short answer
It depends on your mailbox type.
| Mailbox type | S/MIME decryption |
|---|---|
| Microsoft 365 (Office 365) or Exchange | Not supported |
| IMAP, POP3, Gmail, and others | Supported, with a certificate installed on the computer |
Microsoft 365 and Exchange
Automatic Email Manager cannot decrypt S/MIME emails from these mailboxes. Encrypted messages are retrieved, but their content cannot be read, printed, or saved.
Other mailboxes (IMAP, POP3, and others)
Install your decryption certificate in the Windows certificate store, on the computer or server where Automatic Email Manager runs.
Requirements
- The certificate must be installed in the Personal store (named
MYin technical tools). - The certificate must include its private key.
- If Automatic Email Manager runs as a Windows service, install the certificate for the same Windows account that runs the service.
Install the certificate
- Double-click your certificate file (
.pfxor.p12). - In the wizard, select Current User (or Local Machine for a service running under a system account), then click Next.
- Enter the certificate password. Keep the option that allows the private key to be exported off for better security.
- Select Place all certificates in the following store, click Browse, and choose Personal.
- Click Finish.
- Restart Automatic Email Manager.
Tip: A certificate without a private key can verify signatures but cannot decrypt messages.
