Can't connect to my Yahoo Mail account
Modified on Fri, 2 Oct at 4:13 PM
Symptoms
Automatic Email Manager says your user name or password is incorrect, even though you entered them correctly.
Cause
Yahoo blocks third-party applications from signing in with your regular password. You must create an app password in your Yahoo account and use it in Automatic Email Manager instead.
Solution
Step 1: Generate an app password in Yahoo
- Sign in to your Yahoo account and open the Account security page.
- Select Generate app password (or Generate and manage app passwords).
- Enter a name such as
Automatic Email Manager, then click Generate password. - Copy the password shown by Yahoo.

Step 2: Use it in Automatic Email Manager
- Edit your Yahoo account (or add it with Connect your email).
- Select the IMAP connection type.
- In the Password field, paste the app password instead of your regular Yahoo password.
- Click Test connection, then save.
Server settings (if needed)
| Setting | Value |
|---|---|
| Server | imap.mail.yahoo.com |
| Port | 993 |
| Secure connection (SSL) | Enabled |
| User name | Your full Yahoo email address |
Tip: If you change your Yahoo password, your app passwords may stop working. Generate a new one if the connection fails again.
